Decisions...decisions

Now wait a darn minute! Are we sure we want to hang this chap? Everyone makes mistakes. Wouldn't Iraq be a better place if we "appointed" him President, again. Hum. OOIDA needs someone with a little "muscle." How about the ATA? He'd make a great union leader for "us" truckers.

Pinhead extraordinaire. This guy I say we hang. I know this nice big tree. Did you know this piece of garbage has a wife and 5 children!
This is (John Hill) the latest Bush bureaucrat to head up the FMCSA. So what.

Until every drivers license manual, in every state, has a chapter (and test) on how to drive "with" and respect trucks, I don't care what this former "cop" has to say.

Here's what else has to happen. Until drivers can safely enter and exit the interstate, proving it during a driving test, they cannot get a license. After their 70th birthday, drivers must be retested every two years. Cars passing, then cutting in front of big trucks too closely, will be stopped and ticketed. The same for tailgating. Cars and RV's going 45 mph on a 70 mph road will be pulled over and questioned.

School buses will be restricted to right lane travel only. Cars must yield to truckers moving over for law enforcement, construction or other trucks stopped on the side of the road.

For truckers, 10 hours a day will be the maximum driving time. Not 11 hours. To drive again, you must be off duty for 12 hours, not 10. Forget ever bringing back split sleeper time. Waiting time at a shipper or receiver past two hours should be subtracted off the ETA on the other end.

Every weigh station should be closed. Double the Federal DOT safety budget. Send DOT experts directly to EVERY motor carrier to do comprehensive audits. DOT officers in unmarked vans should pull over questionable trucks and drivers. Shippers will be solely responsible for overweight trucks leaving their property.

Trucks will be governed at 70 mph. Tankers will be governed at 65 mph. Split speed limits will be eliminated. The national interstate speed will be 70 mph. This will be mandatory for all states - no exceptions!

When there is a left lane restriction for trucks on a 4 lane interstate (8 lanes both directions) one lane will be designated for trucks only. Two left lane restrictions will be eliminated.

America is a great country. But we have one big problem. We, that is the people we elect, like to do things half-assed. We never seem to know how to properly finish anything to a logical conclusion. Korea, Vietnam and Iraq are just a few of the "bigger" examples. If we want safe highways, then make them safe. Stop screwing around. Picking on truckers is half-assed. Get the job done right and let's make everyone accountable.

Pinhead. Here's a suggestion: if you are unsure of who to vote for - find out who is presently in office and vote for the other guy. Get rid of 'em all - especially the pinheads.

Only losers talk on the CB. I only have one to communicate with the few shippers that still use it. Anyone with a brain listens to satellite radio. I forget where I was the other day, but this was what was being discussed between all the other nonsense.
- It is b.s. that 100 "Mexican" trucking companies have been given permission to deliver shipments in the US.
- It is b.s that a few big trucking companies want to "govern" trucks "down" to 65 mph.
- "I" went broke driving for Fedex.
- Wal-Mart is the worse place to unload. "I" had to wait 7 hours before they got to me. They really damaged the inside of my trailer and wouldn't pay me for all the damages.
- "I" can't drive 65 mph - "I'll" be driving all day and night.
- "I" hate Canada. Why do I have to pay $5 to come back into my own country. The brokers treat "me" like a child - they make me stand in the hallway.
- Soon every road will be a toll road. Virginia, Houston and Indianpolis
- "I" went broke driving for Landstar. You need to have a government contract to survive.
- If it were up to all these activist groups, "we'd" be driving only 6 hours a day.
- "We" really don't cause accidents out there - we need the speed to change lanes.
- "They" want everything to go by rail. "They" want trucks off the road. "They" made billions in fuel surcharges.
- "We" need 70-72 mph to avoid accidents.
- Michigan speed is going from 55 to 60 mph. Trucks there weight 100,000 lbs.
