This is an e-mail sent to Nancy Henderson, Editor and writer K. Dodd of the T/A p.r. rag that is available bi-monthly. This was in response to the "fluff" "let's give some free advertising to our buddies" piece on podcasts and blogs. "Tom Wiles "daily dispatches" downloaded "as many as" 90,000 a month? Trucker TwoTimes? Wiles, who looks like a former prison inmate on parole, is one of the worst examples of someone who "attempts" to represent the American trucker. Who is "downloading" his material - must be his friends and family. There are not half as many truckers owning laptops. The (still) few who do are watching and downloading porn, not blogs or podcasts about "life on the road." And, if my company saw Trucker TwoTimes cab - with his laptop and camera set up - he would be terminated. Geeks in Route who? What favor did they do for either of you for getting their name mentioned? The other 6 "blogs? you mention are unknown and well, boring. You get a better representative example of what it's like to be a trucker by sitting around the counter at any truck stop. After reading most "trucking" blogs and trying to view the "cheesy" podcasts you refer to, "who cares" is the general response. Nice try, but this piece is fantasy. With all the layoffs going on within T/A, Henderson and Dodd might not even be employed there. Both are hiding somewhere, as no response to my e-mail has been received. Perhaps they'll join Steve Smith covering NASCAR.
