900 miles the next four days...

From the new Toyota facility I'm headed to pick up a 2 stop load to North Carolina. The deliveries are scheduled for Tuesday, April 29th. It's about 900 miles, with 4 days transit time. The receiver does not want the material earlier. What is happening here is that because business is (so) slow, warehouses and manufacturers are sending out their month-end orders almost a week earlier. This particular shipment would "normally" not be sent out until the 30th. And, at the other end, the receiver does not want to accept the material and have it appear on this month's inventory. They can receive it on the 29th and "book it" for the next month. But, as usual, it leaves the "trucker" in the middle. The only way I can maximize the trip is to get to the 1st stop - or as close as possible - within the next 24 hours and claim 2 days layover at $25 per. Many carriers will not let you do this. Bottom line, I'll be able to drive real slow the next four days, at least increasing my mpg. The photo credit link is: http://www.tapirback.com/tapirgal/gifts/friends/reptiles/turtle-plastic-f427.htm
