Review...Flying J...Lake Station, IN

I have now been on the road for twenty (20) days. I don't know when I'll get home. My carrier will get me back whenever I want. But, money is tight and the miles are low, and so, I'll probably be out until near the end of the month. It's the first of April, and here close to Chicago it looks like November (dark and cloudy) and feels like it - 39 degrees. So, tonight is a stop at yet another FJ. I'm about 50 miles from my final tomorrow morning - I have a 9am appointment - in Plainfield, IL. This was a former Petro with paid parking. The interior is Petro, the parking is Petro, the employees are FJ, but gone is the paid parking. The buffet was $9 and there was BBQ pork, chicken and meat loaf. I like when a T/S puts out rolls - in this case frank and burger rolls. They were actually fresh and soft. It's too much to ask for hot. But then my wife is the only one in my world that serves hot rolls. The rolls at the T/A in Ashland, VA were cold and hard. They should have been thrown away. The service here was fast and friendly. The cashier called me "sweetie" and not only am I, but I love when a woman calls me sweetie. She also added a thank you and please come back again. Now, let's talk about what the photo is all about. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when the FJ buyer in Utah decided to buy a thousands of these stuffed tiger and lion heads, that you can actually mount on your wall. We're in a recession. Drivers can hardly afford dinner. It is not Christmas. These "things" originally sold for $79. They were marked down to $39 and now FJ is trying to get rid of them for $29.77. I have never seen one sold. Everything in the FJ store is on sale. No one is buying anything. The cashier (not the "sweetie" one) asked if I wanted a bag of peanuts for $1. I don't eat peanuts. I don't see the lion's head on the FJ website. They're probably embarrassed to show it. The FJ store is full of junk made overseas. I look forward to seeing these in a dollar store somewhere.
