There is nothing so annoying...

as a truck driver, former trucker, trucker wanna-be editor and writer trying to sound like a corporate executive. I have 30 years experience in this industry and can spot a pinhead a mile away. If you're going to "report" on economic issues whether it be fuel prices, freight activity, the stock market or whatever, remember to write like you're speaking to "working" folks. I know what your agenda is. I know who you're trying to impress. But, the harder you try to sound like "one of them" the less intelligent you sound to "us." Try not to forget, that the suits that occupy management positions with carriers, associations, shippers and receivers are the enemy. Worse and lower on the "food chain" is some (or any) "consultant" (s) who is a "used to be." What impresses me is a man or woman that has a CDL in their wallet, not an M.B.A. on some office wall. You have a choice, we all put on pants the same way, but you need to make the decision if they're pinstripes or jeans.
