Stupid people...get the Hummer out?

So gas is cheaper. Some guy on the radio said he's going to take his Hummer out of the garage and replace it with his other smaller more fuel efficient car. The one he's been driving since the price of gas shot up.

Herein lies the problem with "our" energy problem. I liked it when gas was $4. It should have gone to $5. There were fewer cars on the road. Demand for fuel went down. Supply went up. The price dropped. OPEC was getting pissed.

But, because Americans use gasoline like it was the addictive drug cocaine, out come the Hummers. So here we go again. Why the hell can't you people leave the damn fuel inefficient cars in the garage. Better yet get rid of them, and never buy another one again.

Have you listened to the "typical" car commercial lately. They're not selling cars - they're selling $40,000 Bluetooths. They don't mention fuel efficiency or how long the engine will last or whether or not the paint job will remain shiny as long as you own the car. They don't promise that their dealerships will not screw the public with loan shark financing or shady deals. They don't offer better "after-the-sale" service where your car will be quickly repaired as good as new without having to wait for some obscure part for a week. No, its the pretty model in high heels and a slinky dress demonstrating the built in GPS to find a restaurant.

No President can solve the problem of stupid people - people who think this is some kind of game. I personally would love to NEVER hear anything about the Middle East again - ever. I don't care if Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan and Syria all murder each other. They can choke on their oil If we were smart, we would have weened ourselves off OPEC's oil nipple long ago. But we can't do it if the stupid people are going to get the Hummer out!
