Mike Huckabee...

I never paid much attention to this guy, but he seems a likable enough sort of chap. He now has a "show" on Fox, which I listened to today. He doesn't have (yet) that "mean-spiritedness" - that viciousness - that seems to have infected everyone else at Fox News.

I heard Stewart Varney this morning sitting in for Neil Cavuto. Varney (formerly of CNN) has clearly gone over to the dark side in his hatred of Sen. Obama. I though he was a "financial" reporter - not a "commentator." He should stick to business reporting.

Again, like everyone else at Fox News, the poor guy (Varney) desperately needs a vacation away from the cameras somewhere in Mexico or South America. The same goes for everyone else in the media, including MSNBC, The New York Times and all the other poor folks who were thrown off the McCain and Obama campaign planes.  Sean Hannity, on the other hand, needs to be institutionalized along with his buddy Rush Limbaugh and Laura Ingram.

But back to the guy in the photo - former Governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee. What was wrong with this guy for VP? Too religious? He is an ordained Southern Baptist Minister. He doesn't come off sounding like a religious wacko. He was considered but passed over in favor of Gov. Palin. Like Palin, he does have a personality and a sense of humor, unlike other Republicans. I call him one of the "happier" Republicans. He seems like a natural in front of the camera. Perhaps that's where he should stay.

But first and foremost he is still a politician. He was joking that he's going to have a Q&A session- question and avoidance, as opposed to questions and answers.  We are to assume that he doesn't "avoid" - that he's a straight talker and actually answer questions. But when someone in the audience asked about a $700 dentist bill that they couldn't afford and what about the issue of having no health insurance - Huckabee did not answer the question. He went on to talk about how under McCain you - the person asking the question -  would "have" that $700 to pay the bill. It was back to propaganda. The Republican party line. All bullshit. After all one of the major sponsors of the "show" - for time being - is the McCain-Palin campaign.

Bottom line, Huckabee - I hate that name - is entertaining and not annoying like his other Fox colleagues. It's going to interesting to see how he and his "little" show do when the election is over.
