I’m impressed as hell that he knows most of the reporters names and the organizations they write for. Even the Huffington Post had a “reporter” there. I read them more now than The New York Times. Pres. O, I personally just don’t care about the gas-guzzling RV industry in Elkhart, IN. I don’t care if they sell 1 or none. Many of the businesses in Western PA, OH, IN and IL had long since reached their maturity and were “overdue” to shut down. That includes many of the decrepit nasty polluted steel mills in Upstate NY. Most of their workers should have been re-trained to do something else, somewhere else. SO…
Pres. O, what about ME sitting here in the Love’s truck stop just West of Nashville, TN? There is no freight. I’ve been sitting here for 3 days burning diesel, getting fat on Big Macs and fries. And, I’m not alone. The parking lot is filled with drivers in the same “boat.” If “things” don’t start to start cranking up real soon, the company I drive for will shut down and about 650 folks will be out of work. I think you’re certainly smart enough to know that truckers move the nation, and the nation right now “ain’t going nowhere.” SO…
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again – whatever is in that “stimulus” bill is going to do nothing for me, the drivers sitting here not moving or the trucking companies they work for, or the rest of the damn country. Being concerned about ma and pa “gett’n” an RV to shelp around the country in style is not my concern. Besides, your “stimulus” package doesn’t even help them get a damn loan for the RV, or the manufacturer keep their doors open and pay their workers. Do you hear me?
Pres. O, I need to think really HARD about what you’re doing. I like you. I respect you. I voted for you. I agree with you that the Republicans aren’t doing much to help matters. But neither is Pelosi or Reed doing much either to help this mess. SO…
Pres. O, we need tax breaks. I need to help my 75 year old mother live out the rest of her life safely and with respect. She’s run out of money. And I don’t have much left either. I can’t touch my 401K, which by the way lost 40% of its value, until I’m 65 without penalty. My income is down 35% from last year. What about “you” giving me a three month pay-no-tax break? That’ll really help. And free up my 401K. And the company I work for need tax breaks to survive another six months. Put that in “your” stimulus package.
Pres.O, Bill O’Reilly is so jealous of you. It pains him to watch you be so erudite. I mention him because that’s who I listened to after you were done tonight. And he had that horrible little twerp Dick Morris on. I, for once, would like to see these two actually like what you have to say. I think it is possible. But it wasn’t to be with what you said tonight. And I have to agree with them. I don’t buy the threats, the urgency and the “value” of this “stimulus” thing you are pushing. At times, you did “bore” me with useless information. I just know in my bones that something ain’t kosher - something is “fishy.” There’s more to all this than meets the eye. I just can’t put my finger on it. And apparently you can’t either. But please, I’m scared enough without the “we must do this now” nonsense. Be quick and act, but not before you go back to the drawing board and come up with something better, otherwise you’re going to be spending a lot more on supporting folks like me on unemployment.
