This could only happen to me...

Yesterday, I reported to you that the air conditioning unit you see pictured here, decided, independently of a human being, to start up, then died. It actually let out a big sigh like a beached whale. I was about to leave the terminal in Laredo bound for Minnesota. A call was placed to the shipper. Fast forward about 16 hours later. I was still sitting at the terminal in Laredo. The shipper said to offload the "defective" unit by crane. There was no crane available. I have delivered many of these units and (almost) always they are taken off by forklift. Finally, the shipper agrees to have us take it off by forklift and transfer it to another flatbed headed back to Mexico. I now have one unit on my trailer weighing 7500 lbs. to be delivered 1250 miles - 4 days from now on Tuesday morning. I called the job site and asked if they could accept it a day early. No. So, once again, I have some time on my hands the next four days. I asked for detention. I will ask for layover. "They" will let me know. Photo by V. Grumpy.
