Beautiful Ft. Lauderdale...

I know this pic is boring, but try pulling in and out of this place with a loaded tractor trailer. There is only one place to enter and exit. Another brilliantly designed facility. It's my final (consignee) in Ft. Lauderdale. I'm told that if I stay in the street, I'll get a $150 ticket from the locals. I'll get another ticket if I keep my engine running. But then there is absolutely no room for me and I'm told it's going to take about an hour to make room. I'm right on time for my 8am appointment. But I'm also told that drivers "usually" call 30 minutes in advance to let "them" know they're on the way. The surrounding neighborhood, by the way, is classic slum with "ladies of the daylight" walking around everywhere attempting to "turn a trick." Backed up by roving drug dealers and poor sick elderly and drunk young and old men, this ain't the Lauderdale you see in the AAA brochures. Less than 3 miles away are (docked) the world's most expensive and luxurious yachts. I'm also told that my tarps have to be folded and put away before anything can come off the truck. It seems last week they tore up a tarp that was lying on the ground. The traffic in front of the place is the consistent fast moving "I just got to get to work no matter what I'm late" kind. Fun, fun and more fun. It took 20 minutes to load the material and 2 hours to get it off. Needless to say I was quite relieved and glad to get the hell away from this place.
