This is
my team "The All Blacks" from
my homeland New Zealand. We're performing a traditional war dance (a haka) before playing against the French in rugby, our national sport. Regular readers of this blog know that I applied for a passport recently. When it came in the mail my name was spelled incorrectly and the US State Dept. determined that I was born in New Zealand. I have now been from there for the past four months and I am learning a lot about my new home. Thank goodness I didn't have to learn a new language. English is
our official language. I chose not to use the new name my government has assigned me, preferring to hold on to my own. But the time for my trip with Mrs. Grumpy to Mexico is approaching, and I must make the effort to correct what my government has done to me. I had new passport photos taken at CVS for $8.50, filled out the proper bureaucratic forms (for the 2nd time) and after Mrs. Grumpy checks everything over, she'll mail it back for (re) processing. It's exciting to think where I'll be from next. Maybe China or Great Britain? Who knows, we'll have to wait and see. Wish us luck. But I'll never forget New Zealand and will dutifully perform a haka anytime I have a problem with someone.
Haka!
