Our old friends are back...

Ahhh, we missed them. The tanks, the missiles, the jet fighters made from stolen US designs, the strange looking soldiers, the bombing and killing of innocent people - yes, they're back, the old folks from the USSR - better know as - Russia. And it seems they're as evil as ever! Remember them from the Cold War. The "Mr. Gorbechov, tear down that wall" folks. It's been all about us lately. Our exploit's in Iraq and Afghanistan. We've been front page everywhere. But not now, now today. Because the Ruskies are back! This time it's Georgia. No not Georgia as in Atlanta Georgia. Get out your atlas. This Georgia is a country about the size of South Carolina. It borders the Black Sea between Turkey and Russia. It was ruled by Moscow for most of the two centuries before the breakup of USSR. Just like in the good old days we're blaming Russia and they're blaming us for this latest mess. Oh, how sweet it is. James Bond where are you. The Georgian troops by the by, are US trained. How sweet! Places we so missed like Tskhinvali, Vladikavkaz and Abkhazia are back. Break out the vodka! And we even have a Russian President named Dmitry Medvedev. Can you believe that - a real Dmitry - not one from central casting. Now maybe, just maybe, the rest of the world can stop hating us for just a bit. After all, we're really not that bad. The photo is by Gleb Garanich of Reuters and please go to http://www.nytimes.com/ for the story of the conflict.
