I'm sitting here on US83 right on the border of Nebraska and Kansas. I worked today in heavy rain delivering 2 stops in Lincoln, NE. I went through 4 changes of clothes. Despite that the 2 stops were close to each other, due to the weather, it took over 5 hours to get the material unloaded. I'm on my way to stop #3 down in Liberal, KS, then heading over to Oklahoma City. I'm tired and pulled into a small truck stop for the night. I'm listening to President Bush (via satellite from the White House) speak at the Republican National Convention. I've been listening tonight mostly to FOX on Sirius/XM, because I find CNN so annoying. I must remind my readers, that I'm
not a Democrat or Republican
nor a liberal or conservative. I am very much an
independent. The President's speech was short. It began with a reference to "evil" left liberals and then touched upon the good job everyone, especially the Governors, were "doing" with Gustav. He talked about how great McCain and Palin will be for the nation. He concluded by telling the audience how wonderful his wife, Laura (who is at the convention) is. As scheduled, the Republicans big hero, Ronald Reagan, was profiled by Law & Order's (former Senator) Fred Thompson. I was never a Reagan fan. Tomorrow, former NYC Mayor Gulianni will speak followed by Alaska Governor Sara Palin, McCain's VP nominee. McCain is scheduled to accept the nomination Thursday night. The Democratic nominee, Senator OBama, will be on Bill O'Reilly (Fair and Balanced?) either tomorrow night or Thursday. After listening to the Republicans tonight, I'm not enthused, I'm not jazzed and they certainly have not "won" me over. Every time I hear his story, I'm so sorry McCain had to suffer as a POW serving his country in a useless war. For that he certainly gets my respect, not automatically my vote. I'm tired of Republicans whining about liberals. Listening to Fox, I still don't like Hannity or Coombs. Bottom line, all I can think is, are these people kidding? Our country is in the toilet because of 8 years of misguided actions. The fault should be shared by Bush and a vastly unpopular do-nothing Democratic Congress. Can McCain and Palin repair the damage? I just don't know yet. Senator Lieberman has just come to the podium to speak, and I'm going to bed. The photo credit is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Thompson.
