Rain all day. Delivered in Liberal, KS. Tomorrow Oklahoma City and Shawnee. Every cattle hauler seems to be going 75 mph. When they stop, the steer or whatever livestock they're carrying seem to in shock for a while. Then they make loud steer noises and clop around in the truck all night. It's hard in these parts to find a quiet place to park away from them. I'm freezing. This morning it was 45 degrees. Right now its 62 and I need the heat on. Could it be the Strawberries & Homemade Vanilla ice cream (Blue Bell) I just consumed? Naw. The Cherokee restaurant is nothing special. The waitresses have no sense of humor and "thank you" is not in their vocabulary. To "enjoy" the salad bar, you have to ask for one of their little plastic plates. 350 lbs. truck drivers are eating "salads" on these leeetle plates - its pitiful. Rabbits eat more lettuce in one sitting. The special tonight is "all you can eat" fried chicken. After two pieces I'm sorry I ordered it. The fries and roll were good. The sweet tea excellent. So stop here and have a cold tea, then leave. Whoever owns the place is cheap. I could double their business by installing a few tv's, buying larger salad plates, adding some home cooked soup to the salad bar, serve more 1/2 lb. cheese burgers, find someone else to cook the chicken and teach the waitresses how to smile. Diesel here is now $3.99/gallon. The credit for the photo is http://www.bluebell.com/What_Were_Crankin_Out/this_month_flavor.aspx.
