What bothers me about McCain...

A few posts ago, I told you what bothers me about OBama, so in fairness, I need to briefly discuss what is on my mind concerning McCain. The photo to your left is by the way McCain's VP selection. That was her in college, long before she was Governor of Alaska and was picked to, maybe, be the next VP of the United States. It was long before she found out her 17 year old daughter was unmarried and pregnant. Big deal, I'm a parent. Shit happens. I don't hold it against her. The photo by the way is from the Huffington Post. Hey, I almost forgot - this about McCain. So, let's get right to the point - the #1 negative thing is the guy's age. He just turned 72. If he serves 4 years, do the math, he'll be 76. If he's re-elected and serves another 4 years, he'll be 80! Now, we do need someone - a maverick type - who will clean up this Bush, Chaney, Carl Rowe mess. It ain't gonna be easy. Have you seen what happens to a man in office as President. Hair turns white, the walk and talk becomes a little slower and the pressure, well the pressure causes a "honest" man to bad things. Invade the wrong country, not capture the man responsible for global terrorism, ignore people trying to escape from a dangerous storm - and even have sex with a chubby intern in "our" Oval Office. An intern who can't keep her mouth shut and does not clean her clothes. So much for the last 16 years. And that stuff about 70 is the new 60 is bullshit. That might work for 50 is the new 40, but hell, 70 is 70, and that's old. He does look a "young" 70, but everything inside and up top inside is his head is still 70. He would have been retired already from a lot of jobs. He would never be allowed to continue to work as a commercial airline pilot. I don't know how safe it would be to see 'ole John driving a big rig going down the road for miles with his turn signal on. I'm feel'n old at 53, I can't imagine how I'll feel in 20 more years, if I make it that long. And I wasn't a tortured POW for 5 years. So I have a big problem with McCain's age. If he gets sick and dies or can't serve (because of heart attack, stroke or cancer) after 1, 2 or 3 years, then guess what? Yup, Sara will be the President of the World, oh, sorry, the United States. And then guess what? Who the hell knows? But am I (or you) going to take that chance? Is taking the chance - making the very risky investment of actually voting for the McCain experienced/no experience team going to pay off? Say what you will about the existance of God and Mother Nature, but isn't interesting that Gustav is making us all remember Katrina and what kind of manager Bush (today, I heard on the radio he is still blaming the former Governor of Louisiana for a lot of what happened back then) is. But then that's not McCain's fault. But his party's "investment" in re-electing Bush for a second term failed miserably. And he had "experience." So let's take the "age" factor and then throw in the VP choice. How do you feel about that? I want to give her (and McCain) the benefit of the doubt. But then this is serious business. Very serious business. I find myself wondering, just like I have done time and time with Bush (and Clinton) - what was he thinking? Isn't a President supposed to be thinking "proactively?" Hey, what if something happens to me and I get sick or die? Was McCain really thinking like that when he chose Palin? Is this is how he's going to think when he is President? Now that bothers me. There is still a little time before the election. And right now we're all tied up now watching Gustav and Hanna. The Palin thing threw me. It did a lot of folks. We'll talk more. Have a great week and be safe out there.
