So surprise-surprise when I looked up from my dinner tonight at Flying J and saw on the news that a brand new Russian nuclear sub was in trouble. According to the Associated Press, the subs fire safety system was accidently turned on and released freon gas that killed 20 people. The sub, on sea trials, was also reportedly overcrowded having 208 people on board. A sub like this typically carries a crew of 73. The sub returned to its base on its own power.
There is video of the Russian sub "sitting" on the surface of the water, but I did not post it here because to view it you have to watch a Crest toothpaste commercial. For the entire story go here: http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/E/EU_RUSSIA_SUBMARINE?SITE=MOSTP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT
