It's a jail barge. This one is docked at Rikers Prison near Hunts Point in the Bronx. It can hold 800 prisoners. The official name is the Vernon C. Bain Correctional Center. What a great idea! I wonder why we don't have more of these jail barges. This is a perfect substitute for the fiasco down in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. What's the prison down there called - The George Bush Screw the Law Center?
We can close Gitmo and transfer all the "military combatants" closer to the site of 9/ll. I'm sure there's a good place right across the street on the Hudson River. It would also be closer to where all the courts and lawyers are. Where "they" should have been in the first place. And, as part of a "work-release" program, the "terrorists" could assist in the rebuilding of the Trade Center buildings. Give 'em a pail and a shovel.
With the election of Sen. Obama we've already seen a "bump" in our "image" around the world. Let's keep the train roll'n down the track and close Gitmo. I'm sure our military would like to be relieved of that "burden." Now, I have the solution - the prison barge.
