but they will continue to “operate” under Chapter 11. I‘ve certainly never had any great love for this company. Their service and food quality has always been 2nd rate. Their response to customer inquiries, concerns and comments has been virtually nonexistent. Many of their parking lots are unsafe for truckers. And they don’t accept Comdata, although maybe that will change.
The 40 year old company (dinosaur) operates 250 truck stops aka travel centers throughout the US and in Canada. Flying J blamed the dramatic fall in oil prices as the prime reason for their financial dilemma. The price of a barrel of oil has fallen over $100 since July. They recently defaulted on an estimated $98 million in loans. Flying J, aka “The Flying Hook” by truckers also has interests in oil exploration, production, distribution and refining.
