I can’t imagine if the McCain and Palin “maverick” dynamic due would
have won the election. I just have no confidence whatsoever that anything would any better than it is now. In fact, I believe things would probably be worse, based on what McCain has (not) contributed since the election. McCain seems like a great back-seat driver right now.
This morning, drivers working for my company were told that, in an effort to cut down on expenses, NOT to send any “unnecessary” QUALCOMM messages. In fact, “we” were told not to don’t send any “free-form” messages - just the standard “mac’s.” Forget saying “good morning” to your driver manager, forget asking about the weather and it would be a good idea, to keep costs down, not to say thank you anymore. That $0.25 per character adds up.
I’ve seen this message before. About seven years ago, the company I was working for back then suddenly and very unexpectedly closed its doors and went out of business. It took my wife and I years to recover. I was “forced” to take a job driving for Werner and it was the worst experience I’ve ever had in trucking. It only lasted a few months. Listening to many other drivers, my story is very common.
Beyond the doldrums of the trucking industry - the GM “situation” is getting worse. Hard to believe. They are bleeding millions daily. It is reported that they’ve already gone though their “bailout” money. I don’t think McCain would be handling this failure any better than the Obama folks are. Besides, how much money can you throw at a dying institution? I’m sorry to say it, but it’s time to pull the plug on GM. As they say in the ER: “time to call it.”
From what I can hear, the Conservatives and Republicans – Laura Ingram and company – are doing a hell of a lot of whining and not a whole lot of contributing. It is what “they” do best. What a gig – doing nothing but whining and getting paid $250K per year to do it!
They tell us that we’re headed for an economic collapse. Everything Obama is doing is dangerous. It is immoral. It is Obamanonics! Our poor children and grandchildren will have nothing. Socialism is rearing its ugly head – it’s right down the street and headed toward us. Get your rifles ready. OMG! Higher taxes, government run healthcare and a whole host of horrible things are hovering above us, and poor us – good ‘ole Ronald Reagan (their hero) is not around anymore to save our poor souls.
But let’s never forget that it’s the banks, the auto makers and a whole host of other businesses that clearly shot themselves in the foot, more so over the past eight years, while their “boy” was in office protecting us from another terrorist attack. He seemed to have done a great job at that while letting everything go straight to hell.
In fact, our entire country has gone straight to hell. The “fundamentals” are in tact, as McCain badly told us, but our infrastructure is badly broken. And so is our dinosaur education system, our bureaucratic overworked military, our (lack of an efficient) power grid system, our 2nd rate health care system and even though nobody is mentioning it – our bloated unnecessary space program vis a vis Nasa.
And it’s nobody’s fault but the stupid, short sighted, idiotic and selfish management of those banks, the car manufacturers, the mortgage and credit “experts” and the business that relocated our factories to Mexico and China (and elsewhere) along with our jobs.
Let’s not forget the companies that “outsourced” tech services to India, all the greedy unions, and every other business in America that failed to conduct themselves in a proper ethical legal fashion. Shame on all of them.
Why this failure, which has culminated in a “pseudo-depression” – a “decession” as I like to call it - happened just prior to Obama taking office and Bush headed back home to Texas remains somewhat of a mystery to me and many other Americans. Greed and stupidity on the part of the business themselves and the government agencies (SEC) who were charged with oversight seems to be the primary culprit.
But Conservative/Republican whining does nobody any good. I expect a lot more from these people. Ann Coulter, Laura Ingram, Rush Limbaugh and the worst of them all, choirboy Sean Hannity - just don’t sound too “intelligent” right now. Whining is cheap and easy. I know since I do a lot of it myself. But I want to hear some solutions from these arrogant self-appointed wildly overpaid representatives of the right, who by the way, I’m sure, will all be paying more taxes soon. Poor babies. LOL.
For all their whining, complaining and threatening that the sky is falling and our country is going to be the new shining liberal socialist tribute to Karl Marx (pictured here) – I am hoping that Obama succeeds beyond all of our wildest imaginations.
That by taxing the rich to pay more because they earn more – mostly off the backs of their unpaid workers (trucker drivers), penalizing the management of companies that even think about moving jobs and plants overseas, providing everyone with the same health care benefits that our overpaid lying representatives in Congress have, rebuilding our infrastructure, revolutionizing education and more, we will once again move forward as we and the rest of the world expects us to.
Now isn’t that a mouthful.
