It’s freak’n freezing here. The temps only 33 degrees, but the wind hasn’t stopped gusting all day. And it’s freak’n freezing. Its a “biting” bone chill’n cold. I need a hot chocolate, badly. All you pussy box drivers who hire lumpers to do all your work, well, I’m outside in the damn wind and cold trying to fold my tarps. Not fun.
Now let’s talk about the Defense Distribution Center. Our government’s defense department in action. The specific one I’m talking about – they’re located all over the US – is nearby in New Cumberland PA off I-81. So for starters, they don’t answer their damn phone. There is only one telephone number for truck drivers. Thank goodness we’re not in a national emergency – like 9/11. I know they’re not all hiding underneath their desks. Maybe outside taking a really long smoke.
“Hello, please stand by for the first available agent to assist you. Hello, please stand by for the first available agent to assist you.” This is what you hear for well over an hour. It doesn’t say that they’re out to lunch, if that’s what going on. After the message you hear the local radio station, “Wink 104.” “Hey, it’s 80’s lunchtime here on 104.1, call in with you requests. Hello, please stand by for the first available agent to assist you.” That’s what you hear minute after boring minute after minute – like it’s on a endless loop.
Brig. Gen. Peter J. Talleri, the commander of this “operation” needs to shake this place up. After 90 minutes of trying to get through, someone finally answers. Whoever answers is very busy – very short – like of course, you should know everything about how they work. You’re told they work by appointment only and you’ve got to fax over your BOL and wait until they fax you back with a date and time that they’ll accept your material. And you need to be pre-cleared. I have 3 freak’n bundles of lumber. I’m a US citizen, with a passport, a driver license, a TWIC card working for an US trucking company.
What you have here is model of inefficiency. I called the NAVY base supply depot in Mechanicsburg and got right through. No appointment. No preclearance. Very professional and helpful on the telephone. Got there. Went through security. Untarped. Got unloaded. Done deal. For what possible reason is the New Cumberland any different?
It is now 4:28 pm. I’ve been trying since Friday to get somewhere with New Cumberland. Nothing. Zero. Zeltch. Non-responsive. No answer to the fax. I turned everything over to my DM. She’s not having any better luck.
So, these bureaucrats – these pinheads – are holding up a truck with an LTL load of needed lumber – the Navy says they need this lumber badly and would have taken the rest of the load. My government is costing me money with their inefficiency. Great. What a bunch a dumbasses.
Brig. General Talleri, you need to look into this immediately. This is just not acceptable. You have a break in your supply chain. You’re a Marine, you need to kick some butt!
And speaking of kick in’ some butt, this moron Swift driver parked next to me – tractor first into the space – with his ass end stuck out in the parking lot. Why? Who the hell knows with these people. Nothing they do makes any sense. Stupid and unsafe – what a combo!
