Union Vacation…

02hotel.xlarge1 The news these days is moving in and out of the papers fast. We hear nothing about the bad tomatoes or the tainted peanut butter anymore. Early last week Iran had the plans for the President’s new helicopter. That story disappeared. So, before it vaporizes, know that the AFL-CIO had their “executive” meeting at the deluxe Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami this week. VP Biden and the new Labor Secretary Hilda Solis spoke to the group. While their members are struggling to hold onto their jobs in the auto industry their union is on vacation in the sun. As the SNL comic used to say: “Isn’t that special!” I guess the AFL-CIO hasn’t heard of video conferencing. Are you a member? Well, that’s where your dues go. FYI, a “typical” room at the Fontainebleau goes for about $399 a night.
