Headed home #2...

It's amazing that no matter how exhausted you are, when you know you're headed home, you can (safely) push yourself. It's kinda like steering a ship out of a storm knowing you're headed to your home port. Everyone settles down and can relaxes a bit. I never would have gone to sleep if it weren't for Advil and my small bottle of low fat strawberry milk. We're good on hours and will try and get this load delivered early tomorrow so we can be home for dinner. I was watching a tape of the Chrome Shop Mafia show "Trick My Truck" and finally saw a truck that makes sense. Did you see the "Bonnie and Clyde" model? The trucks they "redo" look ok, but in the real world, they are not feasible for the work we do. The "Bonnie and Clyde" truck is awesome. I don't think I would want to back it into a typical FJ or Pilot space, but then with everything this model has on board, I would avoid truck stops and stick to public rest areas. The only thing I didn't like was the flat screen tv on the bottom of the bed - you have to have the bed in the "up" position to watch it. I like watching tv lying down in bed. And, the bed they installed (which is also a kind of mini table) looks too thin. The Mrs. in the show, who is also the co-driver - is a "large" woman (more to love?) - and I don't see the two of them in bed comfortably sleeping together. At minimum they need a queen size pillow top bed or a twin double bunk with two separate televisions. Lastly, I was listening for a few minutes to the "CB". I don't know why I turn it on, but I was curious to see what the poor folks who are so lonely and can't afford cell phone service, a tv or satellite radio, that they need to sit in a truck stop talking to other "losers". One thing that was being "discussed" that bothered me is that "local" Texas cops are stopping trucks for a DOT type inspections. That's bullshit, especially when "locals" can't stop folks and ask if they're in this country legally - and arrest them if their not. That would make sense. Stopping trucks by "Barnie" is another stupid idea in a (once great) state already fucked up. Listen drivers, "locals" should be keeping track of pedophiles, illegals, companies that employ illegals and LOCAL law enforcement issues. Locals should stop pretending to be SWAT teams and DOT officers.
